Welcome to
No More Bombs
Welcome to No More Bombs, a movement dedicated to advocating for the elimination or reduction of nuclear bombs. Our mission is to initiate, support, and endorse legislative action, as well as to inform fellow citizens about nuclear weapons and delivery systems, and encourage participation. We aim to share information, announce events, and keep the audience engaged and informed through our website. Join us in our mission to create a world free from the threat of nuclear bombs.
Nuclear Weapons: Local History, Threats & Beyond
Speaker: Julia Hurd
As a steering committee member of No More Bombs, a local group of peace activists advocating for global nuclear disarmament, I will explore a bit of how nuclear weapons are the greatest threat to humanity and life on earth. I will talk about Skagit County’s long history against nuclear weapons, (and nuclear power), a bit about our state’s heavy yet little known involvement in the nuclear industry, as well as our national history, including one of the greatest political movements that managed to eliminate 80% of the world’s stockpile, where we’re at today, and what can be done. Bannering continues in downtown Mount Vernon
Most people don't think about nuclear weapons but they need to realize that we are living with the threat and hopefully, do something about it. We will continue to protest nuclear weapons by Bannering the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, 3pm, at the downtown Mount Vernon Food Co-Op intersection with Tri-Dee Arts. We'll have our "NO NUKES" banner plus various flags. You may want to write to nomorebombs.skagit@gmail.com to confirm if a holiday or other event may interfere.
Parking is available North of the Co-op. Bring your own sign, use ours, or simply wave at the motorists!

“Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount.”
― Omar N. Bradley
General of the Army, Senior field commander during WW II
