EXPAND RECA - H.R. 7672
JUSTICE FOR HANFORD DOWNWINDERS
Help us take action and spread the word to expand The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) to include Hanford Downwinders.
While RECA was renewed and expanded in 2025, providing relief to communities that have been poisoned by the production and testing of nuclear weapons, including those affected by the first atomic bomb test at the Trinity site in New Mexico, it did not include one of the largest legacy waste and plutonium production sites in the nation: Hanford. Communities around Hanford, plus the Columbia River and the surrounding land and air have been exposed to radioactive releases many thousands of times larger than the Three Mile Island accident.
Call upon Senators Murray and Cantwell and Congressman Larsen to advocate for the expansion of RECA to cover communities downwind of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation as well as Pacific survivors and provide an avenue of justice for victims and their families. Support H.R. 7672, the RECA expansion bill backed by Rep. Moylan of Guam.

H. RES. 317 - URGING THE UNITED STATES TO LEAD THE WORLD BACK FROM THE BRINK OF NUCLEAR WAR AND HALT AND REVERSE THE NUCLEAR ARMS RACE
– ask Rick Larsen to sign on

S. RES. 323 - A RESOLUTION URGING THE UNITED STATES TO LEAD A GLOBAL EFFORT TO HALT AND REVERSE THE NUCLEAR ARMS RACE is a companion bill introduced July 16 – Ask Senators Murray and Cantwell to sign on
Rep. Jim McGovern (MA) introduced H. Res. 317 with the idea that a nuclear free world is a national security imperative and the U.S. should lead the effort to reverse the nuclear arms race and plan an economic transition for the civilian and military workforce. It changes outdated policies.
Pramila Jayapal is the sole co-sponsor from Washington State. Ask Rick Larsen to sign on.
Use this Back from the Brink action alert, or write to Representative Larsen online, call him at (202) 225-2605, or send a letter to Rep. Larsen at 2163 Rayburn HOB, Washington, DC 20515.
Use this Back from the Brink action alert to urge Senators Murray and Cantwell to sign on.
No More Bombs signed on to a letter delivered to all members of the U.S. House of Representatives in Support of H. Res. 317 on July 15, the day before the 80th anniversary of the Trinity test that launched the atomic age. This action was also organized by Back from the Brink. Read the letter here.
Both resolutions implore the U.S. to:
-
pursue nuclear disarmament as a national security imperative;
-
renounce the first use of nuclear weapons;
-
end sole presidential launch authority;
-
cancel plans for new, enhanced nuclear weapons and delivery systems;
-
maintain the moratorium on explosive nuclear testing; and
-
support and advance a just economic transition for impacted communities
H. RES. 100 & S. Res. 61 - EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE CONTINUED VALUE OF ARMS CONTROL AGREEMENTS AND NEGOTIATED CONSTRAINTS ON RUSSIAN AND CHINESE STRATEGIC NUCLEAR FORCES.

The New START Treaty expired in February 2026. In the face of Russia’s aggressive nuclear stances and China’s nuclear build-up, this resolution underscores the historical commitment to arms control and the need for reducing global nuclear threats. It calls for renewed engagement with Russia and China.
Senator Patty Murray became a co-sponsor in February 2026! Thank her by calling (202) 224-2621 or write to her online HERE.
