As a steering committee member of No More Bombs, a local group of peace activists advocating for global nuclear disarmament, I will explore a bit of how nuclear weapons are the greatest threat to humanity and life on earth. I will talk about Skagit County’s long history against nuclear weapons, (and nuclear power), a bit about our state’s heavy yet little known involvement in the nuclear industry, as well as our national history, including one of the greatest political movements that managed to eliminate 80% of the world’s stockpile, where we’re at today, and what can be done.
